WE ARE CAREFUL to the ocean of life around us

WE ARE CAREFUL to the ocean of life around us

320 stations of study and observation in mangrove forests

Certification GHG Protocol Brasil / Public Register of Emissions / Category Gold

ODS14

We are diligent in our operations and comply with all legal environmental requirements.

But this is not our only position towards the environment. We care about the needs of the ocean and mangroves around us. Taking care of the maritime environment is our main motive, and it drives our investments. We dedicate resources and efforts to protecting maritime and human life in our areas of operation.

MAREM ACCESS

We are because we add. The environment and human beings are on the same journey. We are all in this together.

We show our respect by assessing and managing environmental, social and safety risks, and creating the means to mitigate them. The maritime environment is a source of life and income for millions of people whose work depends on the sea, just like ours.

We developed our PCAP (Compensation Plan for Fishing Activity) in the South of Bahia (where we are Operators of Block BM-J-2), a transformative human partnership through which we strengthen the Extractive Reserve (RESEX) of Canavieiras and work with fishers in the area affected by our activity. We actively participate in equipping boats, renovating fleets, training fishers, and investing in the safety and training of the local population to enable them to participate in the management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation processes of the project’s initiatives.

PCAP ACCESS

We adhere to the GHG Protocol Brazil.

For every year since 2012, we submit our emission inventory to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an international non-profit organization that provides the largest and most complete global system for environmental disclosure. We also have a third party verify our emission reports. Our information is disclosed in the Public Record of Emissions, a platform developed by the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, of which we are members, to promote the culture of permanent disclosure of greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories.  We are constantly working to reduce our environmental impact.

Our annual reports are available at Annual Sustainability Report.

Our Research & Development protects the environment

Our environmental research projects – JAPI, MAREM, and COSTA NORTE – contemplate people, the ocean and mangroves. We invested over R$25 million and years of operations into efficiently mapping out the coastal ecosystems of Brazil, from North to South, as well as protection systems for all of them. We invest in preservation by creating knowledge.

Learn more about our environmental R&D projects: visit the MAREM, JAPI and COSTA NORTE pages.
